Gaites Layton serves as a Research Associate focused on issues related to financial services and international trade. In addition to client advocacy, Gaites is responsible for analyzing congressional and regulatory activity, as well as providing clients with policy briefs on congressional hearings, legislation and regulation, updates on the political and electoral landscape, and regular outlooks known as “The Financial Services Week Ahead” (weekly), and “The Trade Agenda: What to Watch” (biweekly).
Gaites joined Peck Madigan Jones in January 2020 as a Staff Assistant and transitioned to the Research Associate Role in June 2020. Prior to joining the firm, she interned for Senator Mark Warner in the fall of 2019. During her internship she became acquainted with the Congressional process, attended briefings, conducted research projects, drafted social media and press releases, and gave constituent tours of the Capitol.
Gaites graduated Magna Cum Laude from Virginia Tech, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in Communication Studies and minors in Philosophy, Politics, and Economics and Women’s and Gender Studies. During her time at Virginia Tech, Gaites was a member of the national co-ed service fraternity Alpha Phi Omega, and volunteered on Senator Tim Kaine’s and Virginia Delegate Chris Hurst’s campaigns.
